An APD-identified police car has patrolled our neighborhood for the past seven years, averaging 10 hours a day, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year. Having a marked APD police car brings visibility and deterrence to would-be criminals riding through our neighborhood. Drew Bahry, who heads our security patrol states, “Because of the visibility of our APD vehicle and our off-duty APD officers patrolling our neighborhood, crime has decreased and the area served by the MPNCA is one of the lowest crime areas in the City!”
Seven years ago, MPNCA became the first neighborhood association in Atlanta to buy its own police car. Others have followed. But our car is worn out. Seventy hours a week over seven years will do that. We need a new vehicle and plan to purchase a Ford Explorer that matches other APD vehicles.
MPNCA raised $30,000 to buy that first car. The price has increased to approximately $63,000, but MPNCA has stepped up again. Mary Dodson and Jay Smith have agreed to chair this special campaign. Every MPNCA board member has agreed to contribute.
Contributions are tax deductible if we buy the car through the Atlanta Police Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit. APD services and maintains the vehicle and assumes all liability.

First Fridays FOR Fire Station #27
Our guys at Atlanta Fire Station #27 work hard to protect us every day. I'm sure the normal fire station food is fine, but everyone likes it when someone else prepares dinner. So, we are organizing First Fridays for Station #27.
Once a month on the first Friday of the month it would be great if someone from our neighborhood steps forward and drops off a meal for our firefighters. There are typically 6 firefighters on duty. I'm sure most of you have a favorite family recipe or dinner you like to prepare that can feed your group so let's do the same. With our large number of neighbors, it shouldn't take much for everyone to chip in and give the guys a nice warm meal.
